“Out-of-Sync” Adaptation And Why It’s Normal in the Immigration Journey

Online

The myth of “normal” timelines for adaptation. Feelings of guilt for still struggling, and anxiety that makes it harder to move forward. A sense of loneliness caused by the loss of familiar social connections, and the need for community and support.

“Out-of-Sync” Adaptation And Why It’s Normal in the Immigration Journey

A free webinar as part of the psychological education series within the Healing the Wounds of the War Together project by Maple Hope Foundation.

“I don’t feel like myself anymore…” — why we feel different after major life changes and how to reconnect with ourselves.

After significant life changes — such as immigration, loss, war, or personal crises — many people experience a sense of losing themselves. Feelings of anxiety, loneliness, confusion, and the thought “I’m no longer the same person” are very common.

During this webinar, we will explore:

  • what adjustment disorder is and why it is a normal psychological response

  • why there is no “correct timeline” for recovery

  • how anxiety works and how to live with it rather than fight it

  • how to find stability and support in a new reality

  • how to gradually reconnect with yourself

This webinar combines psychoeducation, practical exercises, and gentle self-reflection.

Free of charge

Offered as part of the Healing the Wounds of the War Together project by Maple Hope Foundation.

  • Anna Kutsyna — Registered Clinical Counsellor in Canada (BCACC), psychologist and psychotherapist (Gestalt therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, perinatal psychology), certified grief support specialist
